Q2 2016 Spring Game Preview: Which Will You Bring Home?

Now I know we are all steadily waiting until September for World of WarCraft: Legion to come out, but we still have a good 5 months to go (at least!). Spring is here and with it comes a slew of new games coming to supplement our time when we are not tasking with our mains or aren’t consumed by the grind for Apexis Crystals (I mean who doesn’t have goals of earning the corrupted raven.. duh!). In light of this, here are 3 brief previews of some of the hottest titles releasing this season!

Battleborn: Move over League of Legends, Gearbox Studios brings its own MOBA to the table with the first-person Battleborn. Battborn is a fusion of first-person shooter and MOBA gameplay styles, with their being complete offline and online modes. The Borderlands studio so far have announced a roster bolstering 25 different characters from a mad scientist support riding a floating throne to a Rambo style soldier wielding a gigantic mini-gun. Although League of Legends currently dominates the MOBA field, maybe we will see Battleborn push back with its unique gameplay elements. Battleborn will be released on May 3rd.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End: Nathan Drake returns with a refreshed look and hopefully a refreshed playstyle. We have already seen the Uncharted Remaster for the Playstation 4 and it was essentially the same game, just different plot points across the 3 titles included. Uncharted 4 needs to bring some new gameplay, rather than same dash and shoot we have seen in previous titles. Sony’s E3 2015 demo of the game featured a wider range of destruction, new combat, and bigger environments. So maybe the hype will be worth it? Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End comes to PS4 on May 10.

Overwatch: Last but not least, Blizzard’ss anticipated multiplayer first person shooter. We have all drooled over getting our hands on this title and it is coming soon. Overwatch has an amazing cast of characters to rain destruction on the opposing team and features character changes mid-match following death. The game’s maps are inspired by real world places and the is going to come with 3 modes at launch. I’m just waiting for my chance to fling power orbs with Zenyatta J. Overwatch is slated to come to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 24.

In conclusion, these are just a few of the titles coming this Spring to draw our attention away from the WoW grind (or whatever your current guilty pleasure may be). Other honorable mentions include Total War: Warhammer (check out the Vampire Counts Blog!), DOOM, StarFox Zero, and Homefront: The Revolution. As you can see there are tons of awesome titles coming out this year and be sure to check back often as we provide you with more news articles regarding their development!  Until then, friends!

I’ve heard lots of people on reddit raving about Overwatch. I love video game maps that are based on real places. I can thank assassin’s creed for that obsession, haha. I noticed StarFox Zero in your honorable mentions – I didn’t hear they were coming out with another one! That used to be my favorite series back in my gamecube days. Looking into that right now!
