Now, I was starting to read over pwn depot lately and noticed there was no 20-29
warlock guide, so I figured I'd start one.
I. Races (like all other boring guides)
II. Specs
III. Gear
IV. Some decent macros/Spells (If I indeed add it)
I.
Races
Gnome:
Escape Artist, Amazing racial, one of my favorite racials alliance side. Practical uses for BGs, allows you to burn Insignia for things like stun and fear
+5% Int, not amazing, but its always nice to have more Mana on a caster.
+15 Engineering, rather nice at lvl 29 for most classes.. But imo you really only need engineering 215 for an alfk lock at 29.
Human:
Perception, nice for those annoying twink rogues, slap a corruption on them to get them out of stealth.
+5 sword/mace skill, completely worthless.
Diplomacy, its always nice to brag about being exalted in wsg/ab to your fellow twinks and friends.
Blood Elf:
Nice base int, always nice to have more mana.
Mana tap/Silence, never really played a BE warlock to its fullest but I guess its a free life tap with no real cost.
Orc:
IMO best warlock at 29 horde side,
Bloodfury, is pretty fun to pop and dot with the two dots you have all over

+5% pet damage, meh fun but I personally am constantly saccing my VW so I would never be able to use this to it's fullest.. (but thats my play style)
Undead:
WotF, great for warlock vs warlock battles, getting out of seduce/fear and gnomish mind control hat..
Cannibalize, is a nice racial, gain back 35% of your HP over 10 seconds I believe?
II.
Specs
Full alfk spec's
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=Iq0rrof
Comments: Decent damage, most damage from CoA and Corruption, a little less survivability
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=Iq0rV0f
IMO, the best build.. with a ret/holy pally friend who is nice enough to have conc aura up constantly you have a 100% pushback resist.. pretty sexy, you lose out on Amp Curse and +10% increase to CoA, but personally I like this better.
I'm sure there are others out there, but these are my personal favorites, Suppression and Imp Drain Soul are interchangeable and you can choose which ever one you want at this lvl, keep in my spell hit is at 96% at this lvl so some people like the points in suppression more then Imp Drain Soul.
III.
Gear
Head:
[Spellpower Goggles Xtreme]+8 Spell damage/healing or +100 HP (Librams)
[Goblin Rocket Helmet] +100 Hp (if your trying to stack stamina for some strange reason, I would maybe even think about a +150 MP too.
[
[Elder's Hat] of the Eagle, (9/9) for a stats build.
[Catseye Ultra Goggles] + 100 HP for those rogues
Neck:
[River Pride Choker] Best passive stamina better then below if you have someone running with you who has this on constantly.
[Pendant of the Agate Shield] If you have an unlimited supply of these, these are obviously your best choice with +14 stamina to yourself.
[Crystal Starfire Medallion] Great for stats build
Shoulder:
[Death Speaker Mantle] best non-BoA spell damage shoulders that also include stats.
[Thistlefur Mantle] of Shadow Wrath (+13-16 Shadow damage)
For total all out damage.
[Thistlefur Mantle] of Stamina (10-11) for you sta stackers.
[Tattered Dreadmist Mantle] +
[Greater Inscription of Discipline] If you have access to a lvl 80 in wotlk you should definetly be going for these, the stats for a lvl 29 are, 38 Armor +5 stamina +5 Intellect +7 Spirit +8 Spell Power +10 % exp from killing Monsters (worthless for a twink). Is Tattered Dreamist Mantle, not showing up here yet until WOTLK.
[Exquisite Sunderseer Mantle] With the incription again. I do not have the stats for this at this moment but will update when I can with them. Exquiste Sunderseer Mantle.
Back:
[Geomancer's Cloak] of Shadow Wrath (10-11) my personal choice would be +70 armor but +10 shadow resist/ + 5 all resists are good.
[Caretaker's Cape] 6 sta and 7 spell damage is a decent mix.. Personally i'd go for geomancer's cloak.
[Parachute Cloak] Grossly underated, is able to be enchanted with +20 penetration, stacked with WSG trinket, you can essentially make +30 shadow resist aura worthless, when you feel your damage is fine, I suggest making the switch over to this, just in case.
Chest:
IMPORTANT:
[Inferno Robe] NOW THE BEST HORDE CHEST, +23 Spell Power with +150 HP enchantable must have more dps then any other peice of chest armor.
[Zealot's Robe] BC enchantable (+150 HP) aka.. 270 HP from one chest or +6 stats... better then beguiler robe, Horde only.
[Durable Robe] of Shadow Wrath (+19/20 shadow damage) Best for alliance) + 100 Hp on this.
[Death Speaker Robes] an easy 3% crit at lvl 29 ideal for searing pain/Shadow bolt specs.
[Robes of Arugal] Nice mix of Int and +12 Spell damage.
Bracers:
[Vital Bracelets] of Shadow Wrath (+9/10 Shadow wrath) +15 spell damage makes this highest damage bracers, followed by Arcane Runed Bracers and Gallan Cuffs.
[Gallan Cuffs] +12 stamina on these babies, higher stamina then any other bracers at 29, (with intellect that is) and have some vital bracelets in your inventory when your in a guild group/with a healer. (horde)
[Arcane Runed Bracers] Alliance/horde respectively. No belt enchants as of 10/14/08. Only belt that even starts to compare to this is Ghamoo-ra's Bind(Wowhead is having some problems with this belt) which is slightly inferior to this because of the loss of 2 spell damage that Highlander's/Defiler's has.
Pants:
[Elder's Pants] of the Eagle. 9/9 + Runic Spell thread on them.
[Elder's Pants] of Healing (+15/16 Spell power) + Runic Spell thread.
Boots:
[Defiler's Cloth Boots]/
[Highlander's Cloth Boots](+7 Sta) nice for solo questing due to the fact that you can get decent spell damage and 140 hp on them with minor speed. Best choice for a solo lock in BGs.
[Vital Boots] of Shadow Wrath(+13/+16 Shadow damage) Minor speed or +7 sta to them. I’d go personally minor speed, lets you run away faster/run away as fast as those pesky rogues who all have AB boots. If your really going for max shadow damage only reason I'd use this, other wise AB boots are better.
Rings:
[Nogg's Gold Ring]/
[Talvash's Gold Ring] H/A Respectively, and no nubs, you can't get BC enchants on your rings no matter what you think. These are HP rings, combined with
[Deadman's Hand] you get an easy 190 HP from your rings and an easy root spell for pesky rogues/warriors and hunter pets.
[Wicked Moonstone Ring] Decent shadow damage and some intellect, better then Ring from Ashenvalle quest.
[Lorekeeper's Ring]/
[Advisor's Ring] highest spell damage rings at 29 really.
[Seal of Argas] 1 more shadow damage/7 more spell damage then Wicked Moonstone Ring, 2 less int.
[Charged Gear] of Stamina, +10 stamina this + Deadman's hand are best for HP.
Trinkets:[/B]
[Arena Grand Master] Every twink should have this a 1k damage absorb at 29 is amazing and will give you enough time to do almost 2 full lifedrains and a fear
[Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector] Holds melee in one place for escape.. for shadow bolt spam or drain life spam.
[Gnomish Shrink Ray] While solo you should be spamming this once its off its 5 minute CD.. AP has no value to you, and unless you’re in a group with many melee not much of an effect on them... 50% chance to -250 AP on your target… 25% chance to decrease parties AP by 250... 25% chance to increase parties AP by 250.
[Gnomish Cloaking Device] Goes without saying.. Nice to pop and run away, if you have dots on you, they will remove you from invisibility, just like vanish, it's totally broken but it can work. Obviously if you pop with flag you'll drop it.
[Rune of Perfection] Great to use as a passive Trinket, this with parachute cloak gives you 30 spell penetration, pally aura only being 30
[Defiler's Talisman] Nice bit of 300 physical absorb.
[Talisman of Arathor] Same uses as above.
IV.
Macros
Drain Life/Drain Soul /Drain Mana
/cast [nochanneling: Drain Life] Drain Life
/cast [nochanneling: Drain Soul] Drain Soul
/cast [nochanneling: Drain Mana] Drain mana
No space between the : and D on either of the 3 macro's (each seperate)
Each of these macro's are/can be used to spam cast drain life or any of the other drain spells. If you use the regular drain life spell and spam click(or spam press)
the lifedrain spell will reset at 3.0 therefore voiding 60% of the spell you casted, with this macro you will be able to spam press this button without it reseting until you are done casting the spell, almost treating as a cast.
These macros I totally have to credit paraponera for this little baby, with just spell changes. (And if by instance you have a mage with arcane missile spam just replace the drain spells with arcane missiles)
Fear/trinket (horde)
/cast Defilers Trinket
/cast Fear
It will pop trinket and cast fear in the same second, you can use this fear button constantly, even with defilers trinket on CD. My suggestion is to use 2 fear buttons, this one for melee, and another for magic damage.
Fear/Trinket (alliance)
/cast Talisman of Arathor
/cast Fear
This does same thing as above.
Spell Sequence macro (why people can only press 1 button on their keyboard)
/castsequence Curse of Agony, Corruption
Personally I'd just use this, what it will do is you target someone spam this button, first it will cast Immolate in 2 seconds (unless your being hit), then Curse of Agony on the target then 1.5 seconds later (GCD) it will cast corruption. This can also be made if you also plan on standing still after corruption is casted. You can add it to be…
/castsequence reset=10/alt Immolate, Curse of Agony, Corruption
This will cast all your dots, then tab and go to your next target. if your target resists your immolate you may press alt to reset casting macro and start from begining, otherwise it will start recasting that macro 10 seconds later. (You can replace alt with any key you want and that will reset it.
Many of you have seen the video of Searing Pain vs Life drain damage, but like he says they don't account for the extra +healing bonus for lifedrain.. so just spam life drain if your low on HP.. you should almost never not be dotting unless low on HP from lifetap spam. When you do choose to life drain pick a target that has both corruption and curse of Agony on him/her then cast fear. Soul Siphon R2 actually allows a 12% increase on healing/damage from life drain with 3 alfk spells on target, mind you if theres more warlocks around dotting you will be having massive drain life ticks.
Totemstomping, put the most important totems at the bottom
/petattack [target=Healing Stream Totem]
/petattack [target=Mana]
/petattack [target=Firenova totem]
/petattack [target=Earthbind Totem]
Roguefinder, spammable buttons make the computer find them for you, faster than the human eye.
/console targetNearestDistance 15.000000
/targetenemy [noharm][dead]
/console targetNearestDistance 41.000000
/cast [harm,nodead] Curse of Weakness
/dismount [target=target,exists]
(Krig/Pyro)
