As 1.12 patch day approaches, curiosity is building surrounding Blizzard's promise to re-vamp (and hopefully resurrect) world PvP.
While the details are not widely known, Blizzard has announced the framework surrounding their two new additions to world PvP. One new form of PvP gameplay will take place in Silithus where Horde and Alliance combatants will race to harvest a mysterious new substance called Silithyst. When one side has collected a sufficient amount of Silithyst, the winning team's members will all receive a significant buff and the game will start over. Long time Blizzard fans are sure to be reminded of the "Daboo!" and "Zug Zug!" days of hauling lumber and gold in Warcraft.
Another new PvP stomping ground will appear in the Eastern Plaguelands of Lordaeron where battles will rage for control over 4 separate towers. Gain control over a tower and your faction members will receive a buff. The strength of the buff multiplies with every tower within the dominant faction's control.
Will these additions pump new life into world PvP or will they turn out to be little more than Arathi Basin on a grander scale? Only time, and patch 1.12, will tell!
