Anyway, I found them not far from Orgrimmar. Actually was fishing in the Southfury River just north of the town. Right over the border of the Barrens and just inside Ashenvale. Just go past the bridge over the Southfury River that leads into Orgrimmar and up over the waterfall. Pretty easy area to fish in as long as you don't wander too far into Ashenvale. If you keep going north, following the river, there are 2 busted up pillars sticking out of the water. If you're low level, don't go past them. Big spiders. Just fish between the pillars and the waterfall. Took me just a few casts to catch my first Darkwood Pole, but a whole lot more to get the second one.

Imagine it'd drop anywhere of the appropriate level, but thought i'd post here as I haven't seen mention of it yet.

just did that and the box was blank ill try again. its not that hard to find a fishing spot that it drops out of and i got 2 boxes with em in a few casts

I think this can be under the guide thread, so here we go...

I made a twink, and need the hat and boots. So i tried the fishing contest today. Got around 35 fishes or something. Anyway, someone got the rarefish for the hat and someone else got the rarefish for the boots. Then they said in general chat that it will only spawn 1 rarefish of each type each sunday (maximum).

Can someone confirm that? Cause the hat and boots were allready gone in 50 minutes, and if I dont have a chanse in getting it after that, I dont want to fish for 1 hour 10 min more. If you catch my point.

Thats a lie, cause last sunday 3 guildies got hat (or 2 guildies and me).

And i even looted 2x boots on my friends warr once

even tho u have 225, u should use lures... still a small chance the fish gets away @ that skill

Well here is something that I know. If you get a level 70 that has a high rep with Booty Bay, you can kill guards. They do not give xp so you can do it at any level. You can get loads of rep with the bloodsail and fish there while other twinks do not go there. I do that and get around 100-150 each time.

Although you can (i think) get neutral / unfriendly with those factions, then you wont be attacked.
